What kind of fees do you charge?
Our fees can vary but we always provide a FREE consultation.
Despite being a charity not all of our programs are funded. Donations are certainly welcome. Any fees we charge help to provide our programs and services to the community at little or no cost.
Full Assessment: $25
Financial Coaching: $50 per hour
DMP setup: $50 (for the first 6 creditors)
DMP fees: varies
What does it mean to be "non-profit"?
Financial Fitness is a non-profit credit counselling agency and a registered charitable organization. That means we are governed by a volunteer board comprised of various members of our community. It also means that the majority of funds we receive are used to provide services and programs. We keep our administrative costs as low as possible so we can provide low or no cost services to the community. We don't profit from anyone's misfortune.
If I come to Financial Fitness will it ruin my credit?
Not at all. Our appointments are completely confidential. Attending an appointment will have absolutely no impact on your credit rating in fact your credit bureaus won't even know you were here.
Does Financial Fitness work for the banks or the government?
We are not affiliated with any banks or government funded programs. We are completely unbiased and we do not sell any financial products.
Will Financial Fitness lend me money to pay my debts?
No. We will not lend you any money, but we have a Debt Management Program that can help.
Do I have to be in debt to come to Financial Fitness?
What ever your financial situation we can help! Sometime you may just want a hand in reviewing your insurance options or finding extra money in your budget for retirement savings. You do not have to be in debt to visit us!
Client Questions
How do I make my payment?
You can make you Debt Management Program (DMP) payment in 4 different ways:
Online Banking
- Log on to your personal banking website
- Add a bill payment
- Search for bill payee “Credit Canada Debt Solutions”
- Enter your account # - this will be your client number you received at your appointment
- Each month pay this bill payment your agreed upon DMP payment on or before the 15th of the month
Telephone Banking
- Call your personal telephone banking system
- Add a bill payment
- Search for bill payee “Credit Canada Debt Solutions”
- Enter your account # - this will be your client number you received at your appointment
- Each month pay this bill payment your agreed upon DMP payment on or before the 15th of the month
At the bank
- Tell the teller you want to pay “Credit Canada Debt Solutions”
- Provide your account # - your client number you received at your appointment
By mail
- Go to your personal bank and request a money order
- The amount will be for your DMP payment
- The money order must be made out to “Credit Canada Debt Solution”
- Include your client number in the memo note or somewhere on the money order
- Mail to: Financial Fitness 1770 Langlois Avenue, Windsor Ontario N8X 4M5
What if I miss a payment?
If you cannot make your monthly payment on time, contact your counsellor right away. Do not be afraid to call. We understand emergencies arise, but we cannot help unless we hear from you.
We are not a collection agency. Your participation in the Debt Management Program is voluntary. It is your responsibility to notify us if you cannot make your payment. If you are not making your payments, we will contact you to see if there is a problem we can help you with. We will not continue to call. We re required to close your program if your payments are not made as agreed.
Can I pay extra?
We encourage you the make more than your minimum payment if you can. We will gladly accept extra payments at any time. Making extra payments will lower the cost and time of your program.
What do I do if creditors are calling?
Your creditors may continue to call you until they receive your first payment. tell them you have enrolled in our program, give them your client number, our telephone number and ask them to contact us, or if you wish, we can call them on your behalf. Please ask them for their name, phone number and the account number so we can contact them.
If a creditor contacts you after your program has been going for a few months, do not discuss your account or negotiate with them. Ask them to call us; we will handle all calls on your behalf.
I'm still getting bills from my creditor!
You may continue to receive statements from your creditors once you enroll in the program. Some creditors will continue to send you monthly statements. If they do, check to make sure that your payment has been recorded and if there are any charges, other than interest, being added to your account. If a payment has not been recorded or you see that there are charges being added to your account please contact us and we will contact your creditor for you.
